How pricing works

What Goes Into the Number You Hear

A repair price should not be a mystery. Here is exactly what we include when we call you, so you can compare it, question it or sleep on it.

Parts, named
Every part on the quote is listed by what it is and what it does, not lumped into a single line.
Labor, explained
You hear how much of the bill is time at the bench and why the job takes that long.
Now versus later
Each finding is marked as needed now, worth doing soon, or fine to watch, so you can split the work if you want.
No silent extras
If anything changes mid-repair, the work pauses and you get a call with the new figure before we continue.

Take a day to think over a big repair if you need it. Nobody here will rush you, and if a part price changes before you decide, we tell you.

Why drivers pick us

Straight Answers, Sensible Repairs

Good repair work is half skill and half judgment. These are the habits that shape how we handle every vehicle that comes through the door. None of it is complicated; it just takes the discipline to do it on every job. Over time, those habits are what turn a first visit into a shop you keep coming back to.

  • Urgent first, optional last

Brakes, steering and anything affecting safety come first on the list. Wear items that can wait are noted with a rough timeline so nothing surprises you next season.

  • Cause before cure

We confirm the failure with testing before ordering parts. It is the single best way to keep a repair bill honest and a problem from coming back.

  • Every kind of driveway

Commuter hatchbacks, family SUVs, work pickups and light diesels all get the same inspection and the same plain explanation.

  • Fix it or replace it

For big failures we price both paths and tell you which makes more sense for the vehicle's age, mileage and condition.

Cheaper now than later

Small Problems That Turn Into Big Bills

Most expensive repairs started as an inexpensive one that waited too long. These are the ones we see most often, and why catching them early pays.

Worn brake pads
Replaced on time, it is a pad job. Left until they grind, the metal backing cuts into the rotors and sometimes the calipers, and the bill grows considerably.
A slow coolant leak
A weeping hose or water pump is a modest fix. Ignored, it can overheat the engine on a long climb and damage the head gasket.
Old transmission fluid
Fresh fluid at the right interval protects clutches and valves. Burnt fluid speeds up wear that eventually needs a rebuild.
A steady check engine light
Often a sensor or a vacuum leak. Left alone, a misfire or lean condition can ruin a catalytic converter.
Clogged diesel fuel filters
Cheap to change on schedule. Skipped, water and debris reach the injectors, which are among the priciest parts on the truck.

Five Steps From First Call to Pickup

Each step has one job: keep you informed and in charge of what happens to your vehicle and your money.

  1. Call with the symptom

Two minutes on the phone: what it is doing, when it started, what makes it better or worse.

  2. Free inspection

We look at the problem and the related wear items, and pull any stored trouble codes. It usually takes under an hour.

  3. Findings and the number

You learn the cause, the repair cost and which items are optional. Nothing is booked yet, so take the time you need to decide.

  4. Repair you approved

We do the agreed work and call before touching anything that was not on the list.

  5. Road test and handover

The vehicle is driven to confirm the fix, and we walk you through what was done. Ask to see the old parts if you like.

Questions

Fraser Drivers Ask Us

Quick answers to the questions that come up most before a visit. Anything we have not covered, ask on the phone; a short conversation usually settles whether the vehicle needs to come in this week.

Do I pay to find out what is wrong?

The vehicle inspection is free. When a fault needs extended testing beyond that, such as an intermittent electrical problem, you hear what the testing costs before it begins and how it fits into the final repair price.

Will you use factory parts or aftermarket parts?

For most repairs both exist. We explain the difference in fit, expected lifespan and price for your specific part, and you choose. Whichever you pick, it is on the quote before we order it.

What signs point to a transmission problem?

Shifts that arrive late or with a bang, a lag before the vehicle moves in drive or reverse, revs that rise without more speed, and fluid that smells burnt or looks dark. Caught early, these often need a fluid service or a single valve-body fix instead of a full rebuild.

Can you take care of my diesel truck?

Yes. Light-duty diesel pickups are regular work: hard starts, smoke, turbo and injector problems, emissions system faults and diesel-specific maintenance.

What does a factory maintenance visit include?

We follow the list in your owner's manual for the mileage on the clock: oil and filter at minimum, plus whichever fluids, filters, plugs and belts that interval names, and a look at brakes and steering. It all goes into a written service history.

Should I book ahead or can I just show up?

Please call ahead. Reserving a time lets us start on the vehicle the moment it rolls in, with the right equipment ready, instead of having it wait behind other jobs.

About the shop

Built Around the Phone Call Before the Work

Auto Repair Pros Fraser exists because too many people find out what a repair costs when they pick up the keys. Here the conversation about money happens first, with the findings in front of you, and the work only starts once you agree. That one change makes car repair a lot less stressful. Brake squeal or diesel smoke, the process is the same, and you always know who worked on your vehicle and why. No pressure, no upsell, just the facts and a fair price.
